This. is. Kingdom. Work. Y’all, it’s easy to get caught up in the monotony of the mundane life. It’s another level of mental processing when you’re doing the tasks you assumed you’d only be doing for a few years with your kids. We didn’t plan on bathing a teenager or tying shoes for someone in an adult-sized body. (Autism doesn’t end at 13.)
Obedience in ALL (Col. 3:23) is what we are called to. Whether it’s preaching in front of hundreds, or tying the shoes of someone without the fine-motor skills to do so. Our attitude and obedience can be a sweet-smelling offering of worship. Obedience is the easier of those two, but attitude…well, there I get stuck. Doing the same things over and over, and the bitterness of “I didn’t ask for this” can take deep root if I let it. So, I remind myself over and over again. This is Kingdom work. If Jesus can wash the feet of His followers, I can put on some shoes.
