No Place to Lay My Flowers

This poem was first published in May 2013 after the loss of our third child, Ezekiel Lee.

No place to lay my flowers,
No place to hang my head,
Instead for many hours,
I grieve inside instead.

No stones to pay remembrance,
Or dates to commemorate,
The day, the hour, the moment,
You walked thru heaven’s gate.

Yet, etched upon my heart,
Never to forget,
The time that came to say goodbye
Before ever having met.

Others may forget
A life that is no more,
But my life will never be the same
As it was before.

A sad goodbye,
Impressions left,
A deep sigh,
A heart bereft,

With no place to lay my flowers,
I grieve a different way.
With remembrance, tears, and a hope,
I know we’ll meet in heaven one day.ay my flowers,
No place to hang my head,
Instead for many hours,
I grieve inside instead.

No stones to pay remembrance,
Or dates to commemorate,
The day, the hour, the moment,
You walked thru heaven’s gate.

Yet, etched upon my heart,
Never to forget,
The time that came to say goodbye
Before ever having met.

Others may forget
A life that is no more,
But my life will never be the same
As it was before.

A sad goodbye,
Impressions left,
A deep sigh,
A heart bereft,

With no place to lay my flowers,
I grieve a different way.
With remembrance, tears, and a hope,
I know we’ll meet in heaven one day.
